Australia officially the Commonwealth of Australia, is a country comprising the mainland of the Australian continent, the island of Tasmania and numerous smaller islands. It is the world's sixth-largest country by total area. With the second-highest human development index globally, the country ranks highly in quality of life, health, education, economic freedom, and civil liberties and political rights.   • A good academic record in High School Certificate or Higher secondary years of schooling.
  • In IELTS 6.0 Band & PTE 50-57 score.
  • Some courses such as Computing and Engineering will require Mathematics and /or Science as pre-requisites
Postgraduate – Masters
  • A good academic record in Bachelors Degree from a recognized university in India.
  • Any Gap between Study needs work experience in the field will be helpful.
  • For MBA programs at some Universities students need to have work experience in related field along with their Bachelors Degree.

Health Insurance

International students studying in Australia must have adequate arrangements in Australia for health insurance. Australia has a special system of health care cover for international students. This is called Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) and students are required to have this for the duration of their student visa in Australia. The average rate of OSHC starts from AUD 900 and varies depending on the course duration.

Intakes

Australia has two intakes i.e. February and July, with few Universities offering multiple intakes in September & November. It is suggested that students should start making applications ideally 7-8 months prior to the intake. University generally takes around 4-6 weeks to process the applications.

Work Prospects

Under the current arrangements, student visa holders and their dependant family members (except masters by research or doctoral degree student dependants who can work full time), can work a maximum of 20 hours per week during the term once the course has commenced, and full time during vacation.

From next year, students will be eligible for up to four years post-study work depending on the level of study completed. Previously, students were only allowed 18 months post-study work if they had completed a select skilled occupation (medicine, trades, engineering, etc). All graduates students are eligible for:

  • 2 years post-study work upon completion of a bachelor degree
  • 3 years post-study work upon completion of a master’s degree
  • 4 years post-study work upon completion of a doctorate
